I was recently engaged in a discussion with a wonderful artist called Kay Wood, who is on Instagram which I shall link here. I was asked the question during our conversation if anything was able to escape a black hole. At first, my knee jerk reaction was to state that nothing can escape the event horizon of a black hole. Then, I remembered a physics book I had read (I think it was called ‘The Universe In Your Hand’), that mentioned how some particles can quantum leap their way from this point of no return. I mentioned this in the message, along with the idea of wormholes being some kind of potentiality for evading the everlasting shackles of the cosmic fiend. At this point, I realised there was an interesting blog post on this question, and thus I thanked Kay Wood (who I highly recommend checking out on Instagram!) and began to ponder (like a true philosopher would).
Now, let me preface this with the obvious, I am no physicist, merely an enjoyer of space-related content. Now, according to a concerning paradox in quantum mechanics, black holes have the ability to destroy energy or information. This directly violates the law “Energy cannot be created or destroyed”. With the help of the event horizon telescope (the one that took the first-ever photograph of a black hole), research is being done to rectify this. I shall link the article here. Now, subatomic particles in particular are able to escape the event horizon of a black hole, a point at which not even the photons of light can return! Furthermore, this plays into something called ‘relativistic jets‘ which are essentially giant beams of energy that spew out of a black hole. This reminds me of the cosmic egg theory, which I shall now explain. Itzhak Bentov and the cosmic egg: This was originally classified by the CIA, and if you wish to begin digging into it I highly recommend the book ‘Stalking The Wild Pendulum by Bentov’. It essentially posits that through remote viewing experiments, the universe is holographic and what Bentov called a ‘dual toros’. The big bang began as a mushroom like explosion that will one day reach a dual toros (look into quasars for more information). This means that the cosmos will become a singularity, and turn into a black hole, before shooting out of the other side of the toros, known as a white hole. Complicated right ? the entire thing follows the flow of matter around the outer lines of the toros, and if correct means we are doomed to relive the same hologram life over and over again.
Now an even obscurer theory on black holes is that of primordial black holes. This is something that scientists have hypothesized to explain the phenomenon of dark matter. There is a very good book on dark matter and energy, one I even reviewed here (1 minute 46 seconds in). Yakov Borisovich Zel’dovich and Igor Dmitriyevich Novikov in 1966 coined the theory of primordial black holes, and later Stephen Hawkins himself looked into it (with no avail!). These black holes essentially acted as a catalyst for the expansion and formation of stars and galaxies in the early days of the big bang (a paradigm that might be on its way out!). What interests me about this is that it implies that black holes have existed since the beginning of the universe, and are more than the collapse and eventual hidden singularity of a star. If this was the case, then an interesting paradox forms, akin to the childhood question of “Well, if God created everything, then who created GOD?!?”. This brings an interesting dilemma into the mix, if nothing can escape black holes, then does that mean that we are all living inside of a black hole now? A primordial black hole of sorts? The bulk of the universe is comprised of both dark matter and dark energy (two name/place holders for things we have no idea about). Could this mass quantity of unknown stuff be some kind of cosmic digestion or contraction of the insides of a primordial black holes stomach? Ok, so maybe I am getting ahead of myself, but this is an interesting tangent and I feel no pressure in being hilariously wrong as I am no physicist.
Now onto a point more based in my realm of things, philosophy! So, in Dzogchen ancient monks are supposedly able to reach a level of such immense realisation that they can transfer their bodies into pure light. This transcendence would mean that consciousness is able to not only feel the effects of dimensions presumed above it but also elevate itself into these very dimensions. Would there be a way to elevate consciousness to a point where it could access a black hole’s singularity at will? Could sentience lead to some kind of weaving through the fabric of existence where even the terrifyingly inescapable grips of an event horizon are little more than a veil one must push aside with ease? This would surely play into the Boltzmann brain hypothesis, in which my recent book was somewhat about (linked here). The primary function of consciousness, and what defines its levels of hierarchies as far as humans are concerned. Is its ability to create fiction, now create is the keyword. If the universe is a by-product of consciousness, then it must have been created as if it were a fictional work. I explore this concept briefly in a short story I published in the anthologies of my book ‘Sola Anima Solis‘. Now how does creation relate to escaping a black hole? Well, not only would this go against the law of energy being unable to be created, it would also mean that a black hole would merely consist of some level of conscious energy. If conscious energy is responsible for the entirety of existence, then it begs the question, can a conscious self-awareness as minute as ours climb to the throne? Can we, in essence, become the architect of the universe? If that were the case, then a singularity within a black hole would surely have to submit to the will of the creator. Or, would we enter the famous God paradox, where God is all powerful yet he could create a stone he could not lift, meaning he is not all powerful?
So, to summarize, it would seem it is possible to escape a black hole’s event horizon. If you are a subatomic particle, a cosmic egg jet stream, a transcending Tibetan monk, or a Boltzmann brain that resides above a black hole in the hierarchy of nature. Small tangent, but I find hierarchies silly, and explore this in my book ‘Void Around Sunlight’ when the man comes across the wheel of human consensus. I hope you enjoyed this discussion, I enjoyed writing it and I may even make a part 2 if I can think of anything else to add!
