A Musical Story

Many moons ago when I was a younger, more handsome, more muscular, more optimistic man, I was contacted by a woman. This woman had seen my piano compositions and thought that they were good, she was an amazing artist. On top of her artwork, she was a budding animator and had asked me to create a series of fairground-style waltzes for her to use. Naturally, I got to work, I slicked back my receding hairline, licked all 12 of my fingers, cracked my toes, and began watching families at the fairground from the safety of a thick bush. Ok, so that last part did not happen, instead, I listened to music that fit the theme and began to work my own melodies feverously. I created countless waltzes, many lost to time and the decaying memory of a 28-year-old man who writes blogs that barely anyone reads. However, a few remain, and those videos are on my YouTube channel, which I will now share below.

I donned this one ‘Fairground Waltz’, a title that took me 15 hours to arrive to.

This second one I named the ‘Grandad Waltz’ because time ages us but has one ever considered that time too ages, and much like the proverbial watchmake….. ok! FINE! I composed it on my grandads piano, HAPPY?!?

This last one I named the ‘Breaking Waltz’, as you can see, I had gone through a breakup and thought my emotional turmoil could be transferred into a melody. Instead, I just look like I am about to cry whilst playing a fairground waltz for an animation about a girl who eats too many sweets and has to go to the dentist.
